Owned and bred by Cheveley Park Stud and trained by Sir Michael Stoute, Integral was gaining her first success at the top level, although she had landed the Gr.2 Duke Of Cambridge Stakes at Royal Ascot on her previous outing.

She won by two lengths and three-quarters of a length from Rizeena and Peace Burg, with Purr Along another three and a half lengths further back and Kiyoshi finishing sixth of the seven runners. Integral landed the winner's prize of more than £113,000, and also gained her owner/breeders a free nomination to Qatar Bloodstock stallion Makfi, who is resident at Tweenhills Farm and Stud.

David Redvers, who is head of that stud and advises Qatar Racing, said of Purr Along: "It stretched her stamina running over a mile on that ground in a top-class race. She was travelling best of all, but in this company the trip told in the end. We'll look at dropping her back to seven furlongs.
