International Saturday for Qatar Racing
Qatar Racing could have five runners spread across four different countries on Saturday, with four of those runners in Stakes races...
Zoustar's sons Zousain (pictured) and Charge have been declared for the Gr.2 Arrowfield 3YO Sprint (04:50 GMT) over six furlongs at Royal Randwick. Both are trained by Chris Waller, with Zousain just about the best horse in the race on handicap ratings. He will be ridden by James McDonald, with Corey Brown jocked up on Charge. Both have wide draws to overcome, unfortunately.
We switch to other side of the world for our next runner, to France, where Big Brothers Pride lines up in the Gr.3 Prix Sigy (13:52 GMT) at Chantilly, also a sprint for 3-year-olds (though over five and a half furlongs). As on her winning debut, she showed lots of natural speed when midfield on her return and we're hoping for a much better showing with that under her belt. It looks a warm race, though.
Back to Australasia we go as old favourite Endless Drama tries to defy top weight in the Listed NZB Finance Sprint (15:05 GMT) over six furlongs at Hawkes Bay. ‚"Big ED‚" shaped well when a close fourth in the Windsor Park Stud Japan NZ International Trophy over a mile at Tauranga last time, his second start in the country after moving from Australia, and it will be interesting to see how he fares back in trip.
Finally to Britain, specifically Newbury, as homebred gelding Military Law bids for his third career win from just five starts in the mile-and-a-quarter handicap (17:35 GMT). He took another step forward when making a successful handicap debut at Wolverhampton when last seen in January and just a 3 lb rise to a mark of 90 looks fair. He is trained by champion trainer John Gosden and Qatar Racing's retained rider Oisin Murphy takes the mount.
