Owned by Qatar Racing and Barbara Keller, the filly was due to run in France last week, but heavy ground spoilt that idea, and then a trip to Newbury yesterday had to be cancelled when standing water on the course meant the meeting was abandoned.

With today's Newbury card also KO'd by the weather, the meeting has been moved to Chelmsford's all-weather track, enabling Katie's Diamond to finally make her return. She is one of eight fillies lining up in the Gr.3 Fred Darling Stakes (14.40), a traditional trial for the Gr.1 QIPCO 1000 Guineas.

A winner at Listed level last season, and also a close fifth in the Gr.1 Prix Marcel Boussac, Katie's Diamond is ridden today by Oisin Murphy.

She is worth watching, for a good performance would make her a popular selection among 8 to Follow competition contestants. This year's competition opened this week, and once again involves a prize of £10,000 to the winner.

To take part simply pick eight horses trained in Europe for Pearl Bloodstock or Qatar Racing and its associate partners, and then pay £10 for each 'stable' or group of eight horses - you can find a full list of candidates by clicking on the 8 to Follow logos on this website or by going to www.8tofollow.co.uk. All profits from the competition go to the charity Racing Welfare, which helps people in need in the racing and bloodstock industries.
