New purchase Marching on to Royal Ascot
Qatar Racing's new purchase Marchingontogether is being aimed at the Gr. 3 Albany Stakes at Royal Ascot, where she is likely to be joined by other Qatar Racing-owned fillies.
Marchingontogether made a taking winning debut in a five-furlong maiden auction fillies' stakes at Leicester in early-May, shaping as if she'd relish another furlong, and was bought privately after the race by Sheikh Fahad.
She is now the first horse Qatar Racing has had in training with Nottinghamshire-based, Brazilian trainer Ivan Furtado, who sent out his first runners in 2015 and had previously been work rider on multiple Group 1 winner Al Kazeem during his time with Roger Charlton.
Marchingontogether is by Qatar Bloodstock's own first-season stallion Havana Gold, who has sired four individual winners at the time of writing, including his first stakes winner, Havana Grey, who showed great speed when making all in the Listed National Stakes at Sandown recently. Havana Gold stands alonsgide Harbour Watch (who will also have runners at Royal Ascot, including unbeaten 2-year-old Santry), Charm Spirit and Hot Streak at Tweenhills Stud in Hartpury, Gloucestershire.
The form of Marchingontogether's success has been franked by a subsequent win from one of those that finished behind her, and the same is true for another of Qatar Racing's Albany Stakes contenders, Black Sails. The Ger Lyons-trained daughter of Lope de Vega beat the boys on her debut at the Curragh four days after Marchingontogether ran and also looks open to plenty of improvement.
Qatar Racing will also be represented in the Gr. 2 Queen Mary Stakes at Royal Ascot by Out of The Flames, who was just touched off at Ascot on her debut and then won by three lengths at Windsor. She has clearly inherited lots of speed from both her sire, Showcasing, and dam, Listed Marygate Stakes winner Primo Lady, and is another filly with stakes potential.
