Pearl filly Art House looks smart in Japan
The Pearl Bloodstock-bred and -owned 2-year-old filly Art House made an impressive winning debut over 2000m on turf at Hanshin in Japan on Oct 9 and looks an exciting prospect.
Art House (No. 5) is out of Pearl Code who won twice and was runner-up in both the Gr.1 Shuka Sho and Gr.2 Sankei Sports Sho Flora Stakes in 2016 for Pearl Bloodstock.
Pearl Code was trained by Mitsu Nakauchida who also trains Art House. Breaking from stall 5 in a 12-runner field, Art House was soon to the fore and raced in a clear second at halfway.
Art House got to the front just after 400m out and found lots for mild pressure to win by 3 lengths going away under Yuga Kawada, who used to ride her mother.
Art House is by Screen Hero who won the Japan Cup in 2008 and is the sire of 6-time Gr.1 winner Maurice. 8-year-old Pearl Code had a colt by Lord Kanaloa in 2020.
