Pendlebury hoping blinkered appraoch works with Pipe
Pearl Secret, Hot Streak and Extortionist tackle the race, and would reap 80pts for their stables if successful. None of the leading yards have Extortionist in their lists, but most, including pace-setter Archie Pottinger, have Hot Streak and/or Pearl Secret to call upon.
One stable in striking distance of the leaders has Pipe Bomb on their side, and he could snatch some points this evening at Kempton (19.50). Martin Pendlebury's team is in 16th place with 310 points, but a win for Pipe Bomb, who runs in a nursery for the first time, would take him up to joint-seventh. Trainer Kevin Ryan is fitting blinkers on the gelding, and, while he has yet to win in three starts, it would be unwise to dismiss his chance of picking up some points.
Pendlebury has Hot Streak and Pearl Secret in his yard, too, so will not lose any ground on the leaders if either of those two horses add to their scores tomorrow.
