The Robert Smerdon-trained mare came through late to take the runner-up spot, but was no match for all-the-way winner Miss Rose De Lago, who scored by two and three-quarters of a length. Metaphorical was third ahead of the favourite Fenway - 12 ran.
Miss Rose De Lago now heads for next month's Gr.1 Queen Of The Turf Stakes at Randwick, where Noble Protector, who was third in the race last year, could be in opposition again.
