Qatar Bloodstock breed dual Classic winner
The Qatar Bloodstock-bred Dorcia followed up her win in the Swedish Derby by winning the Swedish Oaks on Monday.
Qatar Bloodstock purchased the Spinning World mare Spinola winner of the Gr. 2 Cherry Hinton Stakes in foal to Henrythenavigator at the 2013 Arqana December Breeding Stock Sale, and the resulting filly has become dual Swedish classic winner Dorcia.
Dorcia was born and raised at Tweenhills Stud and later changed hands at Arqana's October Yearling Sale for €40,000, knocked down to Morten Buskop Bloodstock on behalf of owner Roland Johansson and trainer Lennart Reuterski√∂ld Junior.
In what was the 100th running of the race, three-year-old Dorcia become the seventh filly to win the Swedish Derby in July and she followed up in the Swedish Oaks on August 14. Dorcia powered away from her five rivals in the closing stages of the Oaks under Chilean jockey Carlos Lopez and looks a Scandinavian superstar.
Qatar Racing/Bloodstock raced and still own Dorcia's Galileo half-sister Lady Dragon, a Listed-placed multiple winner in France. Lady Dragon produced a Charm Spirit filly foal in 2017 and is in foal to Fastnet Rock.
Lady Dragon was trained by Mikel Delzangles, who has taken charge of another member of the family owned by Qatar Racing, namely a two-year-old filly called Creativity who is by Motivator out Dorcia's Listed-winning half-sister Kirkinola (by Selkirk).
