Qatar Racing 2024 stallion fees announced
Stud fees for the Qatar Racing stallions standing at Tweenhills in Gloucestershire have been announced.
QIPCO 2000 Guineas winner Kameko will stand for an unchanged £15,000 (Oct 1st SLF). The fastest 2000 Guineas winner in history, Kameko also won the Gr.1 Futurity Trophy Stakes as a two-year-old in course record time.
A son of multiple champion US turf sire Kitten’s Joy, Kameko has an outstanding first crop of yearlings who realised €310,000, €170,000, 160,000gns, €140,000, €135,000, 125,000gns, €115,000, etc at the sales this year.
Champion older miler and Gr.1 Sussex Stakes winner Lightning Spear will remain at £5,000 (Oct 1st SLF). Lightning Spear has had an excellent start to his stud career with a strike rate of 50% winners to runners from his first crop, which are now three-year-olds.
Zoustar, sire of last year’s Cartier European Champion Two-Year-Old Filly Lezoo and recent Gr.1 Coolmore Stud Stakes winner Ozzmosis, will remain in Australia for the 2024 Northern Hemisphere season.
Tweenhills owner David Redvers said: “Following discussions with Antony Thompson of Widden Stud, it has been decided that after 11 consecutive Northern and Southern covering seasons, to rest Zoustar for 6 months in Australia.
“Zoustar is happy, healthy and proving exceptionally fertile in Australia this season, where he covers a full book of mares at a fee of $200,000 + GST, but we have always been mindful of protecting his long-term wellbeing and agreed that a break now is prudent.
“Zoustar is booked to return to Tweenhills in 2025. His Northern Hemisphere 2023 Stakes winners include Champion 2yo filly of 2022 Lezoo, Gr.1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint-placed and Serenia Stakes winner Starlust and St Hugh’s winner Miaharris.
“Kameko’s first crop were extremely well received at the yearling sales this year making up to €310,000. With an average of over 65,000gns, he offers breeders outstanding value at just £15,000 (Oct 1st SLF).
“Lightning Spear’s first runners have done very well. With his improved fertility, a fee of £5,000 (Oct 1st SLF) offers exceptional value for an extremely talented, tough and durable son of Pivotal.”
Kameko will be paraded for breeders at Longholes Stud in Newmarket during this year’s Tattersalls December Sales (Sunday 2nd December to Wednesday 6th December).
For the 2024 season we are proud to continue the ‘Your Success = Our Success’ scheme. Any breeder who produces a Stakes winner by a Qatar Racing owned stallion at Tweenhills will be offered a credit for use with any Qatar Racing-owned stallion in the following year to the value of the nomination paid. The breeders of Roaring Lion’s 5 Stakes winners so far, from his only crop, will now be in the fortunate position of having considerable credit against Kameko and Lightning Spear nominations.
