Qatar Racing have purchased the Henry Candy-trained debut winner Blazing Tunder in a private deal.

Blazing Tunder justified strong market confidence when making a successful start in the second division of the Kier Construction EBF Maiden Stakes over a mile at Nottingham in October, carrying the colours of Mr B. McNeill, and he has since been added to the Qatar Racing team.

The winning margin might have only been a neck and a length over his two nearest rivals, but Blazing Tunder was conceding experience to them and had also set a good pace, so it was to his credit that he was able to keep pulling out more when challenged. He showed both class and a fantastic attitude.

The grey son of Casamento is well regarded by his trainer Henry Candy (pictured), whose only other debut two-year-old winners since the start of 2013 were the subsequent Gr. 1 winners Twilight Son and Limato, future Listed winner Alonsoa and Son of Africa.

Qatar Racing has plenty of youngsters to look forward to in 2018, headed by Gr. 2 winner and narrow Gr. 1 runner-up Roaring Lion and also including Kings Shield, Raid, King And Empire, Military Law and the filly, Lightening Quick.
