Qatar Racing stallions 2020 stud fees announced
The 2020 stud fees for the Qatar Racing-owned roster of stallions standing at Tweenhills in Gloucestershire have been announced.
Tweenhills, home of the Qatar Racing stallions, will stand an exciting roster of five stallions for the 2020 season: Zoustar, Havana Gold, Charm Spirit, Lightning Spear and Hot Streak.
Zoustar has quickly established himself as the leading young sire in Australia and is available to European breeders once again in 2020. The Champion 3-year-old sprinter is the only sire since Danehill to be crowned Champion First Season Sire, Second Season Sire and Leading Sire of 3-year-olds in his homeland. Zoustar is currently leading sire of Group winners in Australia and his 1-2-3 in the Group 1 Coolmore Stud Stakes last year firmly established him as a breed-shaper. Zoustar will have a strictly limited book of 125 mares in 2020.
Havana Gold, the Champion First Season sire in Britain in 2017, produced six Stakes winners in that crop, including Group 1-winning sprinter Havana Grey. Over 160 foals by Havana Gold were born this year with over half out of Stakes performers or producers of Stakes performers.
Charm Spirit will return to Tweenhills in 2020 and not return to France. The triple Group 1-winning miler son of Invincible Spirit was Leading First Season Sire in Britain in 2018 with 27 individual 2-year-old winners. Charm Spirit followed that up by being Champion First Season Sire in New Zealand as well and has enjoyed further success in 2019 with Group 2 winners Aretha and Fascino, and Group 3 Sovereign Stakes and Listed Fielden Stakes winner Kick On.
Hot Streak proved himself the fastest 2-year-old of his generation when winning the Group 3 Cornwallis Stakes by five lengths. The following season he won the Group 2 Temple Stakes and was also Group 1 placed at both two and three. Hot Streak is from the world class family of Height of Fashion and late sire sensation Deep Impact, and his first 2-year-old winners this year included the very speedy Stakes winner Flaming Princess.
Completing the quintet is Champion Older Miler Lightning Spear, winner of the Group 1 Sussex Stakes in 2018. He was also the only colt to win the Group 2 Celebration Mile twice and finished in front of 39 individual Group 1 winners during his career. The son of Pivotal will have a limited number of nominations and breeding rights available in 2020.
