Sheikh Fahad finished fourth when riding in a charity race for Greatwood at Newbury yesterday.

A hitch to his intended ride meant he made a late switch to Monsieur Gibraltar, who is trained in Somerset by Rose Loxton and owned by a partnership which includes Britain's champion Jumps trainer Paul Nicholls (on left of picture, with Sheikh Fahad, David Redvers and Kevin Darley).

The horse recently won a two-mile hunters' chase, and looked the likely winner turning for home in the one-and-a-half-mile charity race before fading.

Fife, who was expected to run for Qatar Bloodstock at Ballarat tomorrow in a handicap for trainer Robert Smerdon, has been scratched due to firm going. Her next entry is in a $25,000 fillies' and mares' handicap at Packenham on Thursday.
