Qatar Racing homebred Long Ago followed up her return novice success at Chelmsford with victory in a similar race under a penalty at Nottingham recently.

Long Ago is by Roaring Lion and out of Let It Be Me, the dam of Qatar Racing’s 2016 Gr.3 Solario Stakes winner South Seas.

Long Ago improved dramatically from her sole start as a 2yo when winning over a mile and a quarter at Chelmsford on June 8. She found more progressive when scoring on her turf debut over the same distance at Nottingham on Jun 29.

Trained by Sir Michael Stoute and ridden to both wins by Oisin Murphy, Long Ago gave 7 lb and a beating to Listed fourth Elegancia at the Midlands track and now deserves a crack at something better herself.

Homebred Long Ago wins again at Nottingham

Two days later, Qatar Racing’s Nobel got firmly back on track when winning a Newcastle handicap over a mile and a quarter by 4¾ lengths, also under Murphy.

Nobel made all the running and streaked away in the closing stages to maintain his unbeaten record on the all-weather; though he’s also a winner on turf for Andrew Balding.

Nobel sells as Lot 527 at next week’s Tattersalls July Sale, alongside several others owned by Qatar Racing such as Maasai Mara, Lion Tamer, and Warrior Lion. To see the full list click HERE.
