Sunlight added yet another piece of strong Stakes form to her resume when a close third in the Gr.1 Black Caviar Lightning Stakes over 1000m at Flemington last Saturday.

The daughter of Zoustar and Charge Forward mare Solar Charged showed her trademark early speed to lead the field before being caught near the line by older performers In Her Time and Osbourne Bulls.

Sunlight's trainer Tony McEvoy said:

"They went very quick and she just got a little tired late, and also got a little bit of a bump late too. I was proud of her and she'll definitely improve on the run."

Sunlight has now won a Gr.1 (Coolmore Stud Stakes), been placed in two more, won a Gr.2, won three Gr.3s, won a Listed race and been placed in two more. She has earnt over A$3m for her owners, which include Qatar Racing.

Sunlight's sire Zoustar is also part-owned by Qatar Racing. He's currently based with the other Qatar Racing stallions at Tweenhills Stud in Gloucestershire where he is standing for the 2019 Northern Hemisphere breeding season. He has a strong book of mares, including Gr.1 winners.
