The Lir Jet reroutes from France to Haydock
The Lir Jet will not run in the Gr.1 Poule d'Essai des Poulains at Longchamp on Sunday 16 May and instead goes for the Gr.2 Sandy Lane Stakes over six furlongs at Haydock on Saturday 22 May.
David Redvers, racing manager for part-owners Qatar Racing, said:
‚"Having discussed with Michael Bell and the team at RacehorseClub we have decided that the best route for The Lir Jet is to target the Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot on Friday 18 June, taking in the Sandy Lane at Haydock on route. As a result, he will not be declared for the French 2000 Guineas this Sunday.‚"
The Lir Jet won the Gr.2 Norfolk Stakes at Royal Ascot last year and was runner-up in the Gr.1 Phoenix Stakes at the Curragh. He made an excellent return when a close third in the Gr.3 Greenham Stakes at Newbury on 18 April, his first start carrying the silks of part-owners RacehorseClub.com.
