Rapid sprinter Tippy Toes became the third individual Stakes winner of 2022 for Qatar Racing stallion Havana Gold when winning the Listed Chelmer Fillies’ Stakes at Chelmsford on Thursday evening.

Tippy Toes was completing a hat-trick at the track but carrying the colours of Laundry Cottage Stud’s Colin Bryce for the first time. She was soon sharing the lead in the hands of Joe Fanning and, after shooting a few lengths clear two furlongs out, she was always doing enough to hold on from previous Listed winner Symphony Perfect.

Tippy Toes has now won three of her eight starts for Charlie and Mark Johnston. She was bred by The Countess of Rothes, bought by her trainer for just 15,000gns as a yearling and resold to BBA Ireland for 44,000gns at the Tattersalls December Mare Sale five months ago. Tippy Toes is out of Oasis Dream mare Mullein.

Havana Gold's other Stakes winners of 2022 are El Caballo (Listed Spring Cup) and Teresita (Gr.2 Bangalore Oaks).

Havana Gold is now one of just five stallions standing in Europe to have produced three Stakes winners in 2022, joining Frankel, Dubawi, Dark Angel and Invincible Spirit – all of whom stand for almost five times Havana Gold’s stud fee or significantly more.

Havana Gold also joins Frankel, Dark Angel, Dubawi, Galileo, Invincible Spirit and Lope de Vega as sires that have produced more than one Stakes winner in Britain and Ireland so far in 2022.

There are still some select spaces available for mares in Havana Gold’s 2022 book and he’s clearly outstanding value at £12,500 (Oct 1st SLF) – please contact Tweenhills on 01452 700 177 to discuss.
