Thumper could be a knock-out for leader, but they all missed Harpy

The Jean-Claude Rouget-trained filly, now unbeaten in two starts, will tackle a Stakes race next for her joint-owners, Al Shaqab Racing and Qatar Racing. She was bought for €55,000 at Arqana's October yearling sales.

None of the leading stables in this year's Qatar Racing-sponsored 8 to Follow competition included her in their strings, but a juvenile colt who runs today could extend George Oborne's lead at the top.

Thumper, who is trained by Robert Cowell (pictured below), runs in the opener at Nottingham (17.25) following a break from racing during the peak of summer. Cowell has been waiting for some ease in the ground and reports the colt did his best piece of work last week

A win for Thumper would be worth 20pts to Oborne and carry him past 300pts, while it would also lift Henry Rogers from joint-third to clear second.

Jamie Spencer rides Thumper, and also partners Green Door for joint-owners Pearl Bloodstock and Mary Redvers in a conditions race (19.25) at the same meeting.
