The David Simcock-trained six-year-old is ridden once again by Jamie Spencer, who was in the saddle 12 months ago. Today the same partnership faces seven rivals, including three from the stable of South African Mike De Kock.

Trade Storm was well beaten in last month's Al Rashidiya on his seasonal return, but Simcock was undismayed by the effort. He told the Racing Post: "It was always the plan to have one run before another crack at this race. He needed that first run and has really come on a lot from it.

"Conditions really suit him and we have to be hopeful of a very good showing. If everything goes to plan the chances are we will also run him next week on Super Saturday."

The Zabeel Mile is worth $250,000 (approximately £150,000) and is being run at 5pm UK time.

Also on the card is the Gr.3 UAE Oaks (4.25), in which Illuminating Dream, trained by David Brown, is the Qatar Racing representative, while the Brian Meehan-trained Man Amongst Men carries the colours in the Listed Meydan Classic (3.50).

Racing from today's card at Meydan can be viewed live on Sky.
