Two winners in Two days for Makfi
Honey Required took the second race on this evening's card on the July Course at Newmarket, romping to victory in the hands of Andrea Atzeni for William Haggas's stable.
She was bred by Mike Smith - out of the Galileo mare Tiger Mist - and carried his colours.
Cornwallville's victory at Deauville yesterday was his fourth of the season. A first foal of the winning mare Morinqua (Cadeaux Genereux), he was trained by Stan Moore when winning his first race, at Chantilly, following which he was claimed by French trainer David Windrif.
Improving with racing, he has scored three more times for his new yard, and in his latest win conceded weight all round, including 12lb to runner-up Mount Isa - ironically trained by Moore.
Makfi stands at Tweenhills Farm and Stud and is owned by Qatar Bloodstock - he is currently in New Zealand where he stands to southern hemisphere time at Westbury Stud.
Meanwhile Qatar Racing enjoyed a winner yesterday when Cool Strutter, ridden by Jamie Spencer, won at Sandown Park for Richard Hannon's stable.
However, the team endured another near miss in a Stakes race, when the Ger Lyons-trained Roherynwas second, beaten just half a length, in the Gr.3 Ballyroan Stakes at Leopardstown.
