Two-Year-Olds commence busy Fillies' weekend
Silvestre De Sousa partners Guiltless, while Gwendolyn will be ridden by Andrea Atzeni when both line up for the Antidote Irish Champions Weekend EBF Maiden Fillies' Stakes (18.05) in which 15 juveniles are declared. David Brown trains Guiltless for Qatar Racing, while Roger Varian handles Gwendolyn for the partnership of Sheikhs Khalifa and Suhaim plus Qatar Racing.
Fruity (19.45) is another Ascot runner this evening, while four more fillies - Raw Impulse (18.15), Age Of Elegance and Sahara (both 18.50) and Looking Good (19.55) - are in action at Nottingham.
Looking ahead to tomorrow, the top-class fillies Kiyoshi and Lightning Thunder (pictured above) make their seasonal debuts in Lingfield's Betfred-sponsored Gr.3 Chartwell Fillies' Stakes (16.05). Trainer Charlie Hills reports Kiyoshi "has a spring in her step", while Olly Stevens says of Lightning Thunder, "She is in amazing condition and ready for a run".
Also heading to Lingfield is the Ralph Beckett-trained Bellajeu, who runs in the Listed Betfred Mobile Oaks Trial Stakes (14.20). Bellajeu was beaten centimetres on her final start last season when second in a 15-runner maiden at Newbury.
Other Stakes runners this weekend are Queen Catrine, who runs in a Listed race at Nottingham tomorrow (16.10) and Letters Of Note who on Sunday tackles the Gr.3 1000 Guineas Trial at Leopardstown.
