Qatar Racing’s 3yo filly Waves of Mischief won the Gr.3 Pucker Up Stakes at Ellis Park on his just her 4th start on Sunday.

Waves of Mischief got up in the final strides to deny Pin Up Betty – who had a two-length lead – in the $400,000 Gr.3 Pucker Up Stakes 9f on the turf at Ellis Park.

In the hands of Brian Hernandez Jr. for trainer Brendan Walsh, Waves of Mischief guaranteed herself a spot in the $1.6 million Dueling Grounds Oaks at Kentucky Downs on Sep 11.

Hernandez told the press: “It was my first time on her and Brendan told me to find her some cover early in the race. Into the first turn, I got her covered up but she pulled me out of that spot down the backside. So I let her do her own thing, and it worked out perfectly."

Waves of Mischief was purchased by Qatar Racing for $575,000 from Wavertree Stables at the Ocala Breeders’ Spring Sale of Two-Year-Olds in Training in 2023. She’s by Into Mischief out of the Quality Road mare Pearl River.
