Worships earns praise after winning debut
Qatar Racing registered an across-the-world double on Wednesday courtesy of wins from Jaunty and Worship.
Jaunty registered her second success from her last three starts in a 1550m handicap at Canterbury Park, scoring narrowly from her stablemate Baysa.
The pair's trainer Chris Waller said: ‚"It was a nice win for Jaunty today. She was given a lovely ride by Glyn Schofield, even saving a bit of ground turning for home. The gaps opened up nicely and she sprinted well. She will now more than likely go to Randwick for a similar event on January 1. I am keen to keep her at her own sex.‚"
Jaunty showed a good attitude to get up on the line and she could step up to 2000m in time.
A filly with a bit more speed is Worship (pictured), a two-year-old by Qatar Racing's leading first-season sire Havana Gold who made a winning debut in the Cindy Fuller Novice Median Auction Stakes over six furlongs at Kempton.
Granted, she was receiving plenty of weight from the two colts that finished directly behind her, but they had both won divisions of the same CandD maiden on their previous starts and Worship won with more in hand than the half-length margin indicated.
Worship was part of individual trebles on the day for trainer David Simcock and jockey Oisin Murphy.
She was purchased by David Redvers for €260,000 at Arqana's Breeze-Up Sale in May and looks open to plenty of improvement. She could run again on January 16.
